Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
Imagistic was a reading and exhibition in which eight writers responded to work by eight artists in Wales by writing pieces of flash fiction. In April, the eight artists sent images to eight writers, allowing them to choose a painting or a drawing as an inspiration for a short story. Writers had a month to write a piece of flash fiction -- up to 1,000 words -- which they read on May 16. The event was part of the first ever National Flash Fiction Day, which featured events across the UK. Niall Griffiths worked from Kevin Sinnott's painting, 'Cooling Down' Carole Burns, wrote from Harry Holland's 'Lips' Other pairings were Des Barry writing about an image by Cherry Pickles; Tony Bianchi writing about the image by Derek Bainton; Rhian Edwards about Paul Edwards; Richard Gwyn about Emrys Williams; Amy Wack about Shani Rhys James; and Susie Wild writing about an image by Keith Bayliss. The event was co-curated by Painter Paul Edwards, Writer Carole Burns and Poet Ivy Alvarez. The event was funded by University of Winchester and Literature Wales.
