Transitory Paintings are made from reproductions of portrait paintigns from pages from Auction catalogues that have been cut to form an abstracted image. The work questions paintings lineage, particularly in relation to the slippage between something representational and something abstract: and what it might mean to be both. Each piece in the collective title of Transitory paintings is exhibited under the original title given to the original painting by the original painter. The work is full of interesting contradictions, some of which are below.
