Bartram, Angela (2009) EAST International 2009. [Show/Exhibition]
Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
EAST International is an international biennial open submission art competition that is part of the festival Contemporary Art Norwich. The guest curators were Art and Language and Raster Gallery. They selected me to be one of twenty-five artists to show in EAST International 2009, from 1,028 submissions from 30 different countries. The exhibition was supported by a website and catalogue (ISBN: 1872482902) and the latter presented my work with essays by Dr. Claire Pajaczkowska of the Royal College of Art, and Dr. Manuela Antoniu of the Architectural Association. The exhibition had 8,965 visitors. I also participated in the EAST discourse, a day devoted to discussion and presentations by the selected artists and curators. EAST International received a wide range of reviews in the press, in which my work was discussed. The show had an accompanying touring video programme EAST Video, which toured to twelve venues in which I took part. I was also selected by curator Magdalena Kownacka to be one of four of the original twenty-five EAST artists to take part in EAST goes East, a follow on exhibition that took place in June 2010 at Bunkier Sztuki, Krakow.
