Abstract

Diabetic retinopathy is the principal cause of blindness in people of working age. At any one time, it is thought that up to 10 per cent of all people with diabetes suffer from retinopathy to a degree that requires medical treatment, and many more suffer from lesser degrees of retinopathy.
