Abstract

This workshop will review current research on the aetiology and typologies of child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) offending. Similarities and differences between CSEM and contact sex offenders will be reviewed, together with the issues of potential ‘cross over’ from CSEM to contact offending, risk assessment and risk management strategies. Participants will be introduced to a case formulation tool specifically developed for CSEM offenders, together with findings from utilising this within a community treatment programme. Case examples will be presented and participants will have the opportunity to discuss these in the context of their own work. Finally, we will consider approaches to tackling CSEM offending, from individual and group therapies through to primary prevention strategies.
