Abstract

As planned, the exhibition focused on showing all stages involved in the creation of my unique prints; the printing plate materials, the plate-making process and the print being made on the printing press. This was achieved by showing a film on my practice, showing printing plate materials as well as examples of plates used to make some of the images displayed in the exhibition.

A key part of the exhibition run was a 'walk and talk' session, conducted to explain my working methods to visitors, and to answer their questions, and a 'live print' demonstration in the Print Room. These were designed to engage local people in the exhibition and to de-mystify the collagraph printmaking process – showing people the often ordinary materials used to make printing plates, such as kitchen foil, matchsticks and fabric edgings.
