Abstract

In this paper, a symbolic dynamical model is proposed for the analysis of the random early detection (RED) algorithm. Conditions for the RED algorithm to converge to a fixed point are derived. These results are useful for network engineers to design parameters and control laws so that the RED algorithm would converge to a fixed point.
