Abstract

The authors have been doing research to understand how academics make sense of the competing pressures of teaching, research and administration, how they have been formed as academics and how they act to construct identities. This paper presents one aspect of that research, in particular it is concerned with how academics experience their teaching role and they interpret, reflect on and respond to the situations that they face.
