Abstract

In the environment of architectural pedagogy, physical workshops, also known as “live projects” seem to be an obvious medium to channel knowledge through real life experience. Hands on experiences allow students not only to build a project and feel proud of that but engage in parameter learning imbedded in various aspects related to the project.

Presentation

ArchiLOVE is a recently constituted group, thought up by students and an academic/architect as a society which is dedicated to the promotion of natural and alternative construction methods and researching a humanistic approach to technology. The aim of the group is education, self-education, research, experimentation and promotion of natural and alternative construction and its role in the social and professional context.

The project of constructing an earth dome in Lincolnshire allowed students not only to learn about the unique building method ¬known as ‘superadobe’ but also to be fully engaged in designing, preparing, problem solving and cooperating with clients.
