Abstract
The lmmigration and Asylum Act 1999 received a statement of compatibility under sl9 of the Human Rights Act 1998.' Yet the provisions under s10 and s63 of the immigration and Asylum Act (hereafter IM) effectively remove the right of appeal for most deportees, continuing a trend which began with the Immigration Act 1988. This paper will examine the ;rrocess by which deportation will be administered under the IAA in the light of the obligations pertaining to private and family life and the right not to he subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment under the Human Rights Act (hereafter HRA).' The question will be asked 'is there a right not to be deported under the Human Rights Act 1998;'
